Best Fantasy Art Workbook

I have ordered almost every drawing, painting, and watercolor book out there on fantasy art. Stephanie's book is by far the most comprehensive book there is. It is like three books in one. Compared to other art books she gives you 3 times as many projects to do. All of the projects are clearly explained and are suitable for beginners to more advanced artists. Something for everyone to learn. You will spend many joyful hours practicing the techniques and projects in this book. Even if Stephanie's style is not your style, you will learn a great deal about painting fantasy in watercolor. Definitely one of the best...worth three times what I paid for it!

Laughter and Fun, My Favorite of this Series so Far
Thanks to this series, I am now into fairies more than ever, and this is my favorite of the Fairy Chronicles series so far. The things that make up laughter are pretty cute, the hedgehog is really adorable, and the leprechaun is completely charming. Add the Christmas theme, and lavish food at the Fairy Circle, and come up with the perfect recipe for a fairy book. A witch, a gnome and a bird help the fairies along toward their encounter with the evil Killjoy Crosspatch. But the fairies, Mother Nature, and the sprites of laughter know how to deal with him. Good job.

help and inspiration
I am not a very big follower of fairy art. I was familiar with Ravenscroft from the Diurwaigh site.Wanted to get back into painting landscapes after long time of doing other things. I found the book helpful even if fairies aren't your thing. It has fairly detailed suggestions on art supplies, and drawing techniques.

A fine collection of the latest cutting-edge Gothic art from around the world
GOTHIC ART NOW offers a fine collection of the latest cutting-edge Gothic art from around the world, and comes packed with rare, previously unpublished art from both new talents and legendary artists alike. This art work is paired with details from its creators on how they produced their masterpieces, and also holds website details for further follow-up. An outstanding recommendation not just for art libraries, but for general-interest lending collections.

FEATURED FAIRY ARTIST JOSEPHINE WALL

Fairies are invisible and inaudible like angels. But their magic sparkles in nature. ~Lynn Holland

The fairy poet takes a sheet
Of moonbeam, silver white;
His ink is dew from daisies sweet,
His pen a point of light.

Autumn days with midnight skies

Autumn days with midnight skies scurrying squirrels with nuts to hide Sun going down burns an amber glow as bonfire embers spark in shards

They’re only weeds if you don’t want them

Our garden has, for too long, been somewhat neglected. Not intentionally, it's a time thing, I'm sure many of you have the same problem!

The Ghosts of Kilmartin and The Kings of Dunadd

The journey took us through the Trossachs, which is wild with an array of colour from burnt oranges, reds aglow with the morning sun, and golden yellows. The mountains, which surround us on the road, cocoon us on our journey separating us off from the noisy chaotic world. Here you can breathe clean fresh air that fills your soul and makes your heart sing. The journey is enough to heal you from your heavy burdens of life

The Sleeping Giant Awakes

The giant has just awakened from a century's long sleep and is moving from his resting place where he has become part of the landscape and geography. On his back are the trees and the shrubs that have grown there over the years along with the ruins of human habitations that have been built thereon long ago- castle-like structures and ruined edifices, all from a bygone era like the giant himself.

Collaborating with Faeries

I realize there are many members of Enchanted Folk who have had personal experiences with the Fae. I also know there are quite a few of you who channel faeries through your art, music or writing. Now, I would not tell this story to just anybody, but I know you Believe.

Michaelmas Daisy: Aster Novi-belgii

Genus: Aster: Novi-belgii Meaning: Farewell. So named because it bloomed around St Michaels day, a festival celebrated on 29th September. Although now a Christian festival it has it roots firmly in ancient Pagan practices.

Beyond the Veil

I have witnessed many such Tattoos in my years as a Tattoo Artist and it is always an honour and a privilege to be a part of something so deeply personal in a person's life. I have said before, much like the old saying "wearing your heart on your sleeve", Tattoos depict this visually, like lifting the veil to your soul.

The Sisters of Fate

There is a painting by John William Waterhouse that shows the Fate who measures the thread of life tangled in the strand, looking tentative and uncertain, unwillingly bound by the thread. The Fates in trilogy keep close watch over Titania's journey, watching her make decisions that lead her toward them, and others that lead her away.

Atlantia

The harvest sun is swelling the pumpkins in my veg patch and mysterious mushrooms dot the lawn in the damp mornings. A new season heralds a new project in my studio...

Autumn Magic

Autumn, a time for putting things to rest! Activity slows, and the harvest has been gathered. In the world of Faeries, many Fae return at this time to a higher plane to await Fair Earth's return - a new time of growth - once again next Spring.

Raven Call

When I have the opportunity to travel, I often go with my dear friend, Carla, whom I have known for over thirty years. It is always fun to travel with someone who has like interests and Carla is like a second sister to me. We both enjoy exploring off the beaten path finding places less people venture.

The Hidden Tree

I have some very exciting news! Marianne and I have discovered some hidden whispering leaves and books inside the Whispering Library, we spent two weeks during the summer reading under the trees there. The oak spirit, and caretaker of the library, even gave us two large moss pillows for the moss chairs so that we could spend the night reading by the moonlight.

I Left My Ghost in New Orleans

I miss the old haunted streets and buildings I know so well; I miss the true cajun people who are among the friendliest and most charming in the world; the voodoo; the Quarter's oldest ghost and vampire tour, the dark & rich New Orleans coffee smell wafting from Cafe du Monde, the jazz music on every street in the Vieux Carré.

Life with the Bump

Well, I am slightly larger than the last time I sat down and wrote for Faezine! Tummy was measuring 29cm at 28 weeks (am now at 30 weeks!) and we are due a midwife home visit in about a week or so. In a month's time we will have reached the safe zone of 34 weeks and will be able to discuss a home birth!

Exploring the Stone Circles of Cornwall

During our recent holiday to Cornwall, my partner and I were lucky enough to pay a visit to several of the incredible, ancient stone circles that are in abundance in this part of England. When thinking of the ancient standing stones, one immediately thinks of Stonehenge or those at Avebury. However, Cornwall has a plethora of ancient circles and megaliths that are well worth visiting in their own right.

Whisperings from Eynhallow

Please excuse my absence from these enchanted pages for so long. You may find it hard to believe that I have only just found my writing desk and made a reasonably risk free pathway to it. Discovering my fountain pen and writing paper was a feat which involved gymnastic-like contortions suited to a fitter person than I. Such is the chaos of moving house!

Writer’s Block

The words will come all dreamers pray as they prepare to write. Out my window reigns the full moon on this last autumn night. Should I put to parchment things I've heard about this time of year? And ring louder now the whispered stories that fell soft within my ears.

The Lady of the Forest Fort & Conversations with Birds

Twilight deepens around me as I wander in the garden. A gentle breeze ruffles the leaves whispering lullabies. Fragrance wafts from the buddleias, a sweet warmth I can almost feel against my skin as I step between the bushes.

Cabaret, Carvings, Countryside Mills and Cars

...some fodder for inspiration along our travels. During the autumn tour we headed up to Vermont to play in a Cabaret show in Montpelier at a coffeehouse called Langdon Street Café. It's a small venue with a lot of charm.
